Patchwork Roses and Blue Shoes

Today was a much better day - I'm all caught up, and ready to face the work-world again. I could really get used to that whole "not working" thing, though. Just sayin'.
I often reach for dresses when I'm feeling uninspired, lazy or need a jolt of colour. I also notice all the backwards hangers.

  • Dress - Diane von Furstenberg, thrifted; first seen here in September 2024 for a Mom-Day in Sidney
  • Silk blouse - Zoe & Sam, thrifted; last worn here in September 2024 in that same outfit (I'm so creative)
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last seen here in January with lots of lime green

This beautiful print dress got a lot of love in the office from my colleagues. Pockets!
It's three different cabbage rose prints - black, yellow and orange backgrounds.

They are all separate chunks of fabric sewn together like patchwork. So unusual.
I love "one and done" pieces like this. It's a perfect Jammy Dress.

I pondered keeping it out last year for fall/winter as it is a wool and silk blend. Maybe I'll do it this fall? Will it turn into a year-round dress? Not many do...
Wool! My coworkers were boggled.

I copied my original styling and covered my arms with this neon orange silk blouse.
I wore the dress without the blouse all day in the office - the temps never change, but it just feels more summery when it's hot out.

The stuff:
The deepest blue shoes ever!

Gold-based bling:
I forgot to photograph these earrings when I bought them. Oops!

  • Necklace - Givenchy, vintage 80s, vintage fair
  • Blue/gold hinged bangle - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Teal/gold hinged bangle - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Gold/turquoise ring - consignment
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Earrings - thrifted; purchased for $10.00 in May on a 5-minute shop

  1. Pockets AND all-over coverage of color and pattern, mmmmm perfect! The two hinged bracelets caught my eye along with the earrings - I like the different shapes and colors of the stones - but then it became apparent I like all of the jewelry! Oh, and of course the vibrancy of the tangerine orange top and deep blue shoes add to the delight of the entire one-and-done jammy dress. Have you ever counted your jammy dresses?
We have SUNSHINE in our neck of NY, yay!

    1. Right? So good! Thanks so much, Laurie! I'm rather fussy about my jewelry (oh we know I'm fussy about everything, who am I kidding?), so I'm glad you enjoy it.
I can't be bothered to count - plus I have fall/winter ones - but I'd guess at least 20 per season.
      Yay, SUNSHINE! Enjoy your day!

  2. I could get used to the whole "not working" thing, too :-) My boss would get a fit if I tell him I'm ready for retirement, which in all honesty I am.
I'm sure your co-workers would miss you and your fabulous outfits too! That DVF dress is a stunner! I'm swooning over the colour of your shoes too, even if my feet would scream No! at their heels. xxx

    1. I've been mentioning it (my pending retirement, hopefully in the next 3 years), to ensure my boss is ready for it. I'm so ready...
Thank you - I love that dress so much. The shoes are surprisingly comfortable!

  3. That dress would look equally great with bright opaques and those fabulous lace-up stompy Fluevogs, wouldn't it? It's so pretty not to wear all year round. xxx

    1. Such a good idea, Vix! I really do need to keep it out year-round.

  4. That dress on you is flawless. Have you considered a special bejeweled or otherwise fancied up hanger for closet overachiever of the month? The other jammie dresses should watch out!

    1. Ha ha, that's a hilarious idea, Kym, thank you! I don't wear my dresses that frequently, and my own tastes change constantly, but I love the idea of my dresses vying for favourite!
