I missed a piece found on a 5-Minute shop a while back: this tropical cropped top was never photographed when I bought it (same with the macramé bag I used a couple of weeks ago here). Oh, well, here it is!
- Crop-top - Juicy Couture, vintage 00s, thrifted; purchased for $10.00 a month or so ago (I apparently missed taking pictures of a wee shop!)
- Sleeveless shirt - Denver Hayes, consignment; last worn here under my Thousand-Dollar Sweater
- Skirt - Acqua & Limone, consignment; last seen here in May with my Issey cardigan and blues
- Sandals - Wonders; last worn here a couple of weeks ago with my Coffee Rings dress
- Jacket - The Korner; first seen here in April for a Shop With Sheila with my colleague Sarah
I loved the pattern and the cute shape of it, but no one needs to see my 6-pack in the office, so I knew I'd need to layer something under it. My old faithful pink sleeveless shirt comes through once again.
The colours are also "close enough" - not quite matching.
I was quite taken with the pink sandals and the pale aqua socks too.
The shape of this white skirt is one I like - that horizontal seam gives it a more sculptural shape.
The white skirt I bought yesterday (in case you're wondering why I didn't wear it) isn't the right shape for the outfit, as it's more of a classic pencil.
I got a few side-eyes out "in the wild" but an enthusiastic response from a new colleague as I showed her around the office. Back to light jackets. I looked like this on the bus on the way home.
I wasn't sure about this weirdly puffy denim jacket (it's a Dots find), but I liked how it complemented the roundness of the rest of the outfit.

Zipped up in the morning.
I should learn to put my brooches on the side the camera "sees." I always put them over my heart.

The stuff:
I couldn't resist wearing the new-to-me "F-This, F-That" scarf. It's a very thick mulberry silk and gave good coverage.

- Mulberry silk scarf - Fluevog; purchased here yesterday for $34.99
I clomped around in my shoes - they're very loud.
Golden bling:
Did you notice the collar points? I like how they weigh down the collar.
After a rousing evening of boardgames and music, L was up early for Ultimate Frisbee, and I took my time getting ready for brunch after the game.
- Shell brooch - JJ, consignment, Powell River
- Gold-by-the-inch chain necklace (worn as bracelet) - vintage 80s, Grandma J's
- Shark jaw cuff - Tom Binns, 2012, consignment
- Collar points - vintage, consignment
- Gold/turquoise ring - consignment
- Maybe-emerald gold ring - thrifted; purchased here for $7.95
- Snake earrings - Betsey Johnson, gift from L
I dressed for my friends (Greg and Dr. Steve joined us at John's Place) and for our lovely servers at the diner. I thought they would enjoy this blazer!
- Cotton blazer - Escada by Margaretha Ley, vintage 80s, thrifted, Powell River; last worn here (2nd outfit) in April 2024 with a yellow skirt
- Camisole - Mexx, thrifted; not tracked
- Lined linen trousers - Nine West, thrifted; first worn here in April for Mom-Day at Willows Beach
- Leather sandals - Dr. Martens, consignment; last seen here (3rd outfit) in September 2024 for hanging out in the park with our pals
This is my fourth time wearing this gorgeous cotton vintage 80s blazer since I bought it for $15.00 in a thrift shop in Powell River back in the summer of 2022.
I recall it was badly wrinkled and covered with red wine stains. I cleaned it up with some Folex and a good steaming inside and out.
I liked it with the wide-legged linen trousers, which gave it a slouchy feel, especially with the chunky sandals.
I love the back as much as the front. The guys at the Ulti field were very impressed with it - I walked over at the end of the game. I pulled out my bucket hat to further the sporty vibe, and unbuttoned all but the top to show my Creamsicle orange cami.
It felt very louche and cool.
Incognito and feeling care-free! Wee!

After lunch, I had a quick poke in the Beacon Ave Thrift Shop (no luck) then walked over the Cheers/Csinos vintage collective while L browsed in Ditch Records.
Accoutrements:
Trying out my new-to-me thrifted leather bag - I stuffed my purchase into it, along with my hat.
- Leather purse - Steven by Steve Madden, thrifted; purchased here for $34.95 minus a 25% Seniors' discount!
- PVC bucket hat - Babaton, consignment
- Silk butterfly scarf - consignment
I tied the scarf to the purse.
The stuff:
First wearing of these sandals this season. Hey, feet, remember these? It was good to ease my toes into sandals with a short browse and walk. Nothing too strenuous or blister-inducing. - Chain belt - vintage 70s, Mom's
- Moth pin - vintage fair
- Cuff - thrifted
- Triangle bangle - consignment, Sidney
- Steel/Lucite ring - Calvin Klein, thrifted
- Turquoise ring - Glee
- Earrings - vintage, vintage fair
I enjoyed a quick look around - only the very coolest stuff catches my eye.
I always liked the iridescent woven taffeta that was big in 1999-2001.

This skirt is a mix of pleating, giving it a flounce effect.
Again, very Issey-adjacent. I seem to be on a "folded/crinkled/pleated" phase?

The colour reads predominantly as turquoise to me, since I'm looking down on it when I'm wearing it - the contrast colour is orange.
This is going to go with a lot in my wardrobe. I love the pull-on elastic waist.

It's by Attitude, and according to the CA number, this is a subdivision of Haggar - this is the same brand as my lavender suede shirt that I just wore here.
I'm determined to get through all of the things I've bought and not worn, including this hot pink silk shirt.
- Silk shirt - Ciaro for Michael Kan Enterprises Inc., vintage 90s, thrifted; purchased here for $14.00
- Iggy Pop tee - 2023 tour, not tracked
- Skirt - Alex Coleman of California, vintage 70s, consignment; last worn here in August 2024 for a Mom-Day at Colquitz Creek
- Shoes - Trippen, consignment; last seen here (6th outfit) in August 2024 for the Annual Winesday Pool Party
I will be moving it to Limbo - it's not really "me" - along with this vintage Alex Coleman skirt.
I've had the skirt for 10 years and have worn it 13 times - since I paid $40 for it, that's a cost-per-wear of $3.08 per wear.
It's a little snug on me now, and has zero stretch.
It's always been tricky to style and I feel like I'm done with it. I'll re-sell it as well, and won't miss it.
One of the reasons I like tracking the cost-per-wear is that it helps me see that I'm getting my money's worth out of my clothes, and it makes it easier to let them go. $3 per wear? I'll sell the skirt for $20 and be very happy with that.
Ready to buy groceries, so exciting! The stuff:
Thinking of my dad on Father's Day - I wore his gold chain bracelet and his amethyst/gold ring. Miss you, Dad.
Thinking of my dad on Father's Day - I wore his gold chain bracelet and his amethyst/gold ring. Miss you, Dad.
- Purse - Roots73, thrifted
- Stone bracelet - thrifted, Sidney
- Gold chain bracelet - found, Dad's
- Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
- Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
- Gold hoops - 5th anniversary gift from L (2002)
Just like I often find things on the sidewalk, Dad found the bracelet on the side of the road while out on one of his runs...this would have been back in the 90s, since he died in 1997.
Art Project Update: Neon Fluevogs
I last did an update here a week ago. You can tell I'm enjoying working on these by how frequently I'm updating.
I decided to add another colour combination to the flowers, so that I have three I can alternate between.
The flower on the lower left has dark pink centres and paler pink around that. I like having an odd number, so that I don't have to put the same colour mix beside itself. I did the edge around where the leather upper and rubber sole meet.
You can still see a tiny line of the orange. The lighter/new flower combo is front and centre here - I wanted it lighter to additionally give a nod to the original neon.

And here's the strap and all of the front of the shoe done - I've threaded the strap back through the vamp.
I did a bold black outline where leaves and flowers overlapped - I missed a few spots, so will need to go over it when I'm finished. Sometimes you can't see it when you're too close!

I just have the heel left on this shoe...and then I need to do the other shoe!
I sat out on the deck in my blue velour tracksuit (my "Mob Wife outfit" L calls this) and butterfly socks, and chatted with my brother while I worked. The time flies, but my hand gets sore.

And now, off to enjoy the waning hours of the weekend! I hope you're having a good one!
Thanks again for dropping by!
The shoes ❤️.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michelle!
DeleteThe shoes are awesome! The zebra blazer outfit is totally cool. Lise
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Lise!
DeleteShiela, I like how you just get rid of clothing when it's not making you happy. Where do you sell your clothes? X
ReplyDeleteClothing comes in...clothing goes out. I sell through my closet sales - every 6 months - and it's always person-to-person. I don't sell online at all.
DeleteWhat a fun and stylish weekend wrap-up! I loved seeing all the unique outfit combos especially the tropical cropped top layered with the pink shirt, and that bold vintage Escada blazer.
ReplyDeleteYour attention to detail, like matching socks, scarves, and statement jewelry, is always inspiring. The art project on your Fluevogs looks amazing; can’t wait to see the finished pair. Also loved the heartfelt Father's Day touch.
Thanks for sharing your vibrant weekend it really brought a smile to my face!
Those shoes get better every tie you share them, they are utterly fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love the proportions of that first outfit and the blazer is all that wsa good about 1980s design. I remember several cool outfits showcasing that maxi skirt and I'm sure it'll find another deserving owner very quickly.
I swear to you, I've been eyeing up that same Attitude skirt in the British Heart Foundation in town for a fortnight, sadly it's five sizes too big! I agree about the Miyake pleating! I can't wait to see how you style it! xxx
Those shoes are incredible.
